Until
I visited the east coast of Canada, my knowledge of the
provinces there was limited, to say the least. We flew
into Moncton, which is one of the three main cities of the
province, the others being St. John and Fredricton. New
Brunswick is bordered by the American state of Maine to the
south, Quebec to the north, and the Bay of Fundy and Nova Scotia
to the east.
Where to Stay
There seems to be
B&B's practically everywhere you look! We went in the
off-season and the rates were quite reasonable, about C$75/night
for both of us including breakfast. The majority of them
are beautifully restored Victorian mansions and the owners were
very helpful and friendly. A particularly good one we
found in Fundy National Park was the Florentine Manor.
Things to See and Do
In the few days we
were there we did the following things:
- drove through the
Fundy National Park
- saw the Hopewell rocks on the Bay of Fundy
- waited for the tidal surge at the river flowing through
Moncton (poor timing, didn't see it!)
- went to the university bar in Fredricton to see the Jimmy
Swift Band (superb!!)
- got caught in a blizzard driving between
Fredricton and Moncton
